Discover the Charm of Sunset West Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Pleasant Gap, PA, Sunset West Restaurant is a beloved American diner that perfectly captures the essence of classic fare with a warm, inviting atmosphere. When you step inside, you’re greeted by a retro charm that instantly makes you feel at home, whether you're a local or just passing through. With its comfortable booths, friendly counter service, and spacious dining area for larger groups, it’s an ideal spot for anyone looking to enjoy a hearty meal.
The menu at Sunset West is a delightful homage to traditional American cuisine, with breakfast served all day long. Guests rave about the breakfast deals, such as the popular sunrise combination featuring two perfectly cooked eggs, your choice of delectable sausage links or crispy bacon, and golden-brown potatoes sautéed to your liking. One satisfied customer, Ali Sandolfini, couldn't get enough of the “fantastic” service and expertly prepared breakfasts, noting that the sausage links were impressively large and scalding hot—a delicious start to the day!
Another memorable highlight from the menu is the acclaimed home fries, especially when ordered with onion, as recommended by Mark McNulty, a loyal patron who stops by every year after hunting camp. Each bite delivers a satisfying crunch paired with a soft, fluffy interior that makes these potatoes a breakfast must-have.
For those who appreciate a breakfast joint with personality, Sharon Falcone describes Sunset West as an “old school diner” that's reminiscent of days gone by, where the special breakfast deals rotate, offering something new for return visits. And perhaps the best part? The prices are incredibly reasonable, making it accessible to all.
The experience doesn’t end with breakfast; for those looking for a comforting lunch or dinner, the diner serves a selection of hearty entrees and casual meals that would fit right into any hometown gathering. Debra Wilson recounts a satisfying visit where her husband enjoyed liver and onions, pairing it with their unique stuffed pepper soup—though not every dish hits the mark, the flavorful choices keep diners coming back for more.
In addition to the food, you’ll notice a committed staff that goes above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is enjoyable and safe, especially in light of current health protocols. As Joyce Gindlesperger shares, the friendly team contributes to the restaurant's welcoming vibe, making it a great choice for families or anyone looking for a nice place to take a break from the road. The homemade carrot cake is a must-try dessert that many customers rave about, adding a sweet finish to a satisfying meal.
Whether stopping in for a quick bite or settling down for a leisurely breakfast, Sunset West Restaurant offers not just food, but a slice of Americana that you'll want to savor. So next time you're in the State College area, make sure to take the time to visit this local gem, where delicious comfort meets exceptional service!

Service was fantastic. I got there every day breakfast deal for $10. It includes two eggs, potatoes of your choice. Meat of your choice. I got sausage, links and toast of your choice. It also includes either hot coffee, tea or a soda in the price. the food was done well into my liking The eggs were perfect. The sausage links were bigger than I thought they were going to be and they were so hot I couldn’t eat them right off. The Server and waitress did a fantastic job. The bathrooms were clean at least the woman’s was and it smelled fantastic. Highly recommend definitely would eat here again

We stop here every year on our way home from hunting camp for breakfast. Service is prompt & friendly. The sausage links are delicious as are the home fries (ask for them with onion).

An old school diner with table, booth, and counter service up front and large room in back for groups. Good service and breakfast. They always have a set Sunset Breakfast Special and another breakfast special that chages. Also serve lunch and dinner but we generally go for breakfast. Cash only and reasonable prices.

A great retro styled diner! The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the coffee was great! Breakfast was served all day. The waitstaff were very pleasant. The place gives off a great local diner vibe from a bygone era. Definitely worth a stop when in the State College area!

Just driving through and stopped in. Husband loved the liver and onions! Mashed potatoes weren't the best. I tasted the stuffed pepper soup: tasted like condensed tomatoes soup with rice and a few green peppers; didn't get any meat in my spoonful nor by sight. Got Chef salad instead; I enjoyed it.
